Age Structure and Carbon Emission with Climate-Extended STIRPAT Model-A Cross-Country Analysis

چکیده

Most of the existing carbon emission studies based on IPAT framework considered size effect rather than structure population. However, it is proved with micro-data household evidence that demographic explains unexpected trends better. To complete framework, this study integrated effects STIRPAT model base life-cycle consumption theory as different age groups differ in behaviors. For further analysis frequent extreme weather events caused by global warming and their catastrophic human activities, also harmonized Köppen criteria theories Syukuro Manabe Klaus Hasselmann considers climate factors precipitation (PRE), annual degree-day (DD), temperature anomaly (TA) extended to investigate whether population aging trend provides room for or creates barriers reduction. NASA night-time light (NTL) data DMSP/OLS VIIRS/DNB adopted proxy density weight relevant from over 30,000 stations worldwide. The combined dataset 150 countries, period during 1970–2013. Panel Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) method used solve problems cross-sectional correlation, non-stationarity, endogeneity since sample countries are closely linked meteorological system which make each disturbance term likely be contemporaneously correlated, under same agreement constraint. empirical results show had significant impacts emissions. general influence growth an inverted U shape younger group consumes less older group, offspring leave family when householder turns 50. EKC checked threshold per capita income emissions determine how many reached peak. This aggregated pattern aligned microlevel energy consumption. Another distinguished finding may generally lead increase heat electricity emissions, contrary what some models would predict. We explain uplifted tail “effect narrowed adaptation range” people getting vulnerable. It should noted becomes severe worldwide happen higher frequency, potential spending thus air conditioning will undoubtfully overgrow. One important improve building efficiency retrofitting old buildings’ insulations. Implementing new green standards reduction must not ignored. Evidence shows if insulation pre-1990s houses reconstructed modern materials, residential cooling heating can reduced about 20% every year. Overall, promoting efficient style capacity industrial sector, a way achieve sustainable growth.

The STIRPAT Analysis on Carbon Emission in Chinese Cities: An Asymmetric Laplace Distribution Mixture Model

In cities’ policy-making, it is a hot issue to grasp the determinants of carbon dioxide emission in Chinese cities. And the common method is to use the STIRPAT model, where its coefficients represent the influence intensity of each determinants of carbon emission. However, less work discusses estimation accuracy, especially in the framework of non-normal distribution and heterogeneity among cit...

Unemployment, Inflation and Income Distribution: A Cross- country Analysis

This is the first study to attempt to explain income inequality using unemployment and inflation and international cross-sectional data. Using a SURE system, inflation is found to have an increasing impact on the shares of the lower 80% of the income distribution, while reducing the share of the highest 20%. Unemployment has a negative effect on the share of the first 40%, while increases the s...

Agriculture Trade Openness and Poverty Reduction: A Cross-Country Analysis

This paper explores the effects of general and agricultural trade openness on economic freedom and alongside with the quality of institutions, on income and poverty. Recent cross-country data for over 200 nations in global regions were used to estimate equations for income, poverty and economic freedom. Economic freedom appears to have positive impacts on income levels, which together with good...

Consumption-driven environmental impact and age structure change in OECD countries: A cointegration-STIRPAT analysis

This paper examines two environmental impacts for which population has a substantial demonstrated influence: transport carbon emissions and residential electricity consumption. It takes as its starting point the STIRPAT framework and disaggregates population into four key age groups: 20-34, 35-49, 50-69, and 70 and older. Population age structure’s influence was significant and varied across co...

Determinants of Life Expectancy: A Cross- Country Analysis

This paper analyzes the effects of socio-economic factors on life expectancy. Using multiple regression analysis, the paper shows that there is a positive strong correlation between life expectancy as an independent variable and per capita income, health expenditures, literacy rate and daily calorie intake. Also, it shows that there is a negative strong correlation between life expectancy and n...
